Yeah it’s ok. ima type 2 and just like one of the other people who commented you. Im addicted to diet coke too…lol. Its ok, cause it wont make your blood sugar level go up, but just like your first comment says ultmately it isnt the healthiest drink to drink. I work at whole foods market and if you really like something you can add to your drinks to make them sweeter and not feel guilty or worry….then try looking up a sugar sub called stevia!!

If you liked this post, buy me a beer. (Suggested: $3 a beer or $7.5 for a pitcher)

I drink diet drinks and don’t suffer side effects. I know the artificial sweetner is under question (it always is!) but I don’t think it can harm me as much as the real drink. And I personally like to have a carbonated cola every so often. Diet Dr. Pepper is my thing. I can’t see that it is any worse than some of the other stuff that is out there. We take chances every day with our food. Look at the recall on Dole pre-packaged salads now. E-coli! Now lets see, do I want e coli or a diet drink. No contest, the diet drink wins!!!!!!!
according to my dietician there are ok as long as i dont drink more than 1 can a day -20oz max a day- bc if drink more then i should count them as food.
Apparently so, I’ve been drinking it for over five years and I’m still here to talk about it.
Seriously, diet soda has no calories. Calories from sugar and carbs are what we diabetics have to watch out for.
There’s some controversy over the aspartame used to sweeten the sodas, but so far it’s mostly rumors. If you want to be extra safe, there’s always water.
the sweetners in sugar free sodas cause me to have the munchies!! I wind up eating entirely too much trying to get rid of the munchies.
So I avoid sodas except for the rare real coke!!
Yes.
There have been a lot of studies lately which look at the effect of diet soda for diabetics…while they are considered “safe” they are now finding that the artificial sweetener can mimic the effect of sugar on the brain and trick the brain into thinking sugar has been ingested and insulin is produced.
Considering that diet soda’s have always been under question for their high levels of chemicals and carcinogens and other bad things, I would think that it is best to avoid them if possible, especially if you are diabetic….they are not healthy in general, and if it is true that they can unbalance your blood sugar then it’s probably best to find something else….(although that probably rules out everything then except water!)
I am a type 1 and I am addicted to diet coke. I drink about a 6 pack a day with no problems. My doctor says as long as my kidneys dont hurt I am ok. I do want to drink less sodas and more tea
